General
The ARIES system uses location information provided on the report (Roadway Name/Number and Intersection Name/Number) to determine a Latitude and Longitude for the collision, so that it can be displayed on a map. Instruct your officers to be very consistent and correct (spellings, etc.) with their location information. Examples: MAIN ST (MAIN the road name and ST the road suffix) is the proper way to capture MAIN Street. CR400N is the proper way to capture County Route 400 North.
Security
By default, agencies can only see traffic collision reports submitted by their agency. However, an agreement can be provided, in writing, to the Indiana State Police to provide the sharing of collision reports from one agency to another.

The Central Repository for Criminal Records relies on local agencies to supply it with the records it maintains. If an agency submits to the Central Repository a record that is incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated this may affect the way an expungement is processed. Supplying additional documentation (chronological case summaries, certified court documents, verified petition) can help clarify any irregularities and expedite the expungement process. The Indiana State Police works diligently to comply with all expungement orders. Every effort is made to ensure the record contained within the Central Repository is expunged pursuant to the court¿s order and Indiana law. In the event that the language contained within an order is insufficient to fully remove, seal, or mark as expunged a petitioner¿s record, an amended order may be required to achieve a petitioner¿s intended outcome.
The Indiana State Police is authorized to expunge records after receiving an order of the court to do so. However, expungements received by ISP must be processed in a manner that complies with I.C. 35-38-9. Orders which do not contain language sufficient to identify which records the court intend to expunge may result in delay.
A ¿No Record Located¿ letter simply means that the Indiana State Police Central Repository has not been sent the criminal record from the county in which you were arrested/charged/convicted and therefore we are unable to expunge it. The Central Repository does not generate records. Local agencies supply ISP with the records which comprise the Central Repository. In the event that a local agency has not supplied ISP with a record of an arrest then there would be no record located within the Central Repository. Therefore, we would be unable to expunge such a record. However, the Federal Bureau of Investigation will be notified of the court order and to expunge the corresponding record.

Unless it is you, or the attorney handling your expungement calling to check on the status of your expungement the Indiana State Police is unable to answer additional inquiries regarding the expungement process. Legally, the Indiana State Police cannot give you legal advice so these questions are best for your attorney. ISP is prohibited from providing legal advice or guidance and may not recommend an attorney to assist in the filing of a petition for expungement. For this reason, all inquiries into the process or steps required to file a petition for expungement must be directed towards a licensed attorney. We are not able to give you a time limit on the expungement process because all orders are different. Some expungements will take a longer time than others. Also, we receive hundreds of orders in our office every week from all over the state of Indiana. We ask that you please be patient. You or your attorney may call to check on the expungement at 317-234-0333.
I received a letter confirming that my record was expunged. How do I know what my record looks like?
If after the expungement has been completed and you would like another copy of your updated criminal history transcript, you may call 317-234-3095 to obtain the information. ISP is prohibited from telling anyone what is contained in an individual¿s record over the phone or otherwise.
